Who we are: Wagons-Lits Diffusion was created in 1996 by Compagnie des Wagons-Lits (CIWLT) with the mission of licensing the rights on CIWL's old brand and logo for a wide variety of products ( see : legal (c) & TM), as well as CIWL's historical archives. We dispose of an important digital Data Base of CIWL archives, rich of more than 20 000 photos, plans, advertising posters and other publications (use the Search engine). We control the uses of these properties through licensing or publishing contracts. Since 2013, Wagons-Lits Diffusion is not part of the Accor Group.
?
Why create WL Diffusion? Since its creation in 1876, Compagnie des Wagons-Lits and particularly the Orient Express have enjoyed a huge public attraction. This has often created abuses with frequent unauthorized uses of our brand and images. Among others, we can mention tentatives to register CIWL brand in various countries. Or the use of CIWL logo for pornographic movies/magazines. Or the use of CIWL famous logo for advertising/promotional campaigns. CIWL and ACCOR decided to create Wagons-Lits Diffusion to offer licensing contracts for the use of CIWL brand, or for reproduction rights of WLD's important digital archive phototheque.
Our actions: Since it was created in 1996, Wagons-Lits Diffusion has digitalized an important photothéque of CIWL and PLM archives, partly accessible on-line (more than 20 000 photos). Wagons-Lits Diffusion has signed more than 200 licensing contracts for products bearing CIWL logo in the most diverse sectors, and signed more than 1000 publishing contracts for archive photos, with most international media and publishing groups. Since 1996, WL Diffusion has also sued different companies for counterfeit or illegal use of the CIWL logo.
